Most people want to be of value and contribute to this world and make it a better place. What I’m suggesting here is to do it more, and to do it consciously and deliberately. We can contribute to this world in so many ways, big and small it doesn’t matter, eg:-
Picking up litter from the street
Smiling at strangers
Offering to do an elderly neighbours garden
Recycle wherever you can
Teach a child something new
Compliment – if you notice something that you like about someone tell them, maybe their hair, nails, smile, don’t keep it to yourself, you know how great it feels when you get a compliment.
A read about a man who was out with his new girlfriend, she noticed that he smiled and sometimes waved at people he didn’t know, she said why do you do that ? He said he had heard that people who’ve attempted suicide say that if someone had just taken the time to acknowledge them, by smiling or talking to them, they would not have done it.
Whilst cycling recently there was a little old man standing at the end of his pathway with a blanket round his shoulders, I stopped and asked him if he was ok, he said yes he was just getting a bit of fresh air, we talked about his life his name was Curly, not my real name he informed me. I said do you go walking much, he said I’ve done all my walking and I’m quite satisfied. So just a few minutes taken out of your day can make all the difference, and make someone’s day if they live alone, you may be the only person they talk to all day.
On the film The Secret a man was doing an online course, he was very depressed and in despair about all his problems, his coach says look around your environment and see if there is anything you can do, he said he lived in a block of flats and outside one flat where an old lady lived there was lots of rubbish, his coach said take a broom and a bucket of water and clean and tidy that area for the lady, he did and came back feeling a lot better.
When we take the emphasis off ourselves and help others, our problems sometimes seem insignificant in comparison and often the problems resolve themselves. Being generous of spirit is one of our most important character traits.
At the end of your physical life, it’s not the money, the car, house or expensive gadgets that you will look back on, it will be how much you contributed and gave to this world, it will be the love you gave and received, the joy in your heart and the wonderful experiences.
When you contribute to this world you contribute to yourself, and you feel empowered, so go on give yourself away, this world needs you.
Have a fantastic Friday
Lots of Love
