Appreciation and Positive Aspects
Whatever I write on here I live it and believe it, I like to walk the talk so to speak. So I want to share with you a new gratitude practice, as you know I start every day meditating, not always the same one, sometimes guided, sometimes just on my own. The gratitude practice I have been doing for some months now is Remember the Blessings, which is from the book The Magic by Rhonda Byrne and every day I write down what happened the day before and give thanks to it.
However, I’ve decided it’s time for a change and have started a new gratitude practice that I do last thing at night and first thing in the morning.
I’ve bought two nicely decorated journal pads, one is called My Appreciation Journal the other is Book of Positive Aspects.
The Appreciation one is to be used at night before going to sleep, The Positive Aspect one in the morning. The idea being that often before sleep it’s a time when you reflect on the days events, your life in general and any current problems you are experiencing. The Appreciation Journal is to send you off to sleep in a positive frame of mind, because the vibration you go to sleep on will be the one you wake up with in the morning, so it’s really good to start the day with a Positive Attitude as it will be the theme for the rest of your day. You could appreciate your life in general, or you could be specific to an event, situation or person, here I will give examples of general:-
I’m so grateful for my warm comfortable bed
I’m so lucky to have a roof over my
I really appreciate clean running water to drink and wash with
I love to bask and appreciate my life
It’s so peaceful, I love silence
I appreciate every breath I take
I send love and peace to everyone in the world
Of course there is much more you could write, just get creative.
If you’ve basked the night before and appreciated all that’s good in your life you should wake up on top of the world, that’s when you fill in your Book of Positive Aspects, again it can be general or specific. If you have a job that’s not satisfying your creative needs or you just don’t like it and don’t want to go in, you could get specific about it and write down all the positive aspects about your job, because nothing will change in your negative attitude about it, new ideas and opportunities only come when you’re feeling good. So in this instance I will be specific about the positive aspects of your job:-
At least I have a job many people don’t
I have so much fun with my work colleagues
We often socialise together
The work is boring, but I’m getting creative in finding it more interesting
The canteen does lovely food
My boss is very appreciative of my work and I love being appreciated.
You get the idea, by the time you’ve finished you will be raring to get out of bed to get to work.
This is just another tool in your box of tricks to keep your Positive Attitude on track, and if you can maintain this practice for 30 days solid it will become a habit, because mental exercise is just the same as physical exercise you have to do it daily. It is a choice in order to feel good and bring all that’s good into your life, to my mind well worth the effort.
Have a thriving Thursday.
